Original description Spiculæ 3-6, terminales 1-2 masculæ, oblongo-clavatæ, 4-1 cent. longæ, squamis fuscis, margine hyalinis; spiculæ femineæ superiores sessiles, ovatæ, infima breviter vel longiuscule pedunculata, cylindracea, squamis fuscis, late ovatis, breviter acutatis vel cuspidatis, præter inferiores perigynio brevioribus : perigynium lutescens, latissime ovatum, ad maturitatem vix inflatum, breviter et rigide bidentatum. — Culmi graciles, foliis glaucis, planis, 2-3 mm. latis longiores ; bractea inferior nunc breviter nunc longiter vaginans.Chine sept.[entrionale] ; environs de Pékin (R. Translation Spikelets 3-6, 1-2 terminal ones staminate, oblong-clavate, 4-1 [sic] centimeters long, with brown scales with a hyaline margin; upper pistillate spikelets sessile, ovate, lower ones short or long-pedunculate, cylindrical, with brown scales broadly oval, short acute or cuspidate, all but the lower ones shorter than the perigynia: perigynia yellowish, very broadly oval, barely swollen at maturity, shortly and rigidly bidentate. - Culms lax, with flat glaucous leaves 2-3 mm wide, longer than the culms; lower bract with a short to long sheath.
