Description Perennial herb. Rhizome ligneous, elongate, creeping. Culms scattered, erect, 3580 cm, trigonous, with brown sheaths at base. Leaves shorter than culms, 57 mm broad, flat, scabrous on margin. Bracts foliaceous, shorter than inflorescence, long sheathed. Spikes 3, terminal one staminate, or sometimes with one pistillate flower at base, claviformi-cylindric, 23 cm long, pedunculate with peduncles 47 cm long; others pistillate, remote, cylindrical, 1.53.0 cm long, 710-flowered. Staminate scales oblong lanceolate, brownish yellow, 67 mm long, acuminate and mucronate at apex, 3-green-costate on dorsal surfaces. Pistillate scales broadly ovate, pale yellow or yellow, 3.5-4.0 mm long (awn excluded), acuminate and long awned at apex, 3-green-costate on dorsal surfaces. Perigynia longer than the pistillate scales, obliquely spreading, ovoid, obtusely trigonous, membranous, green, glabrous, 67 mm long, finely nerved, attenuate and shortly stipitate at base, attenuately constricted above to a narrowly funnel-shaped beak, obliquely truncate at orifice.
