Description Herbs perennial. Rhizome creeping, ligneous. Culms lateral, 40-60 cm tall, trigonous, smooth. Leaves shorter than culms; leaf-blade green, flat, leathery, trabeculate, 6-11 mm wide, scabrous on margins, acuminate at apex. Involucral bracts shortly leaf-like, shorter than inflorescence, sheathed; sheaths 1-2. 5 mm long, obliquely truncate at orifice. Inflorescence paniculate, with 3 spikes; terminal spike staminate, clavate or cylindrical, 3-4 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, with a 2. 5-5 cm long peduncle at base; lateral spikes pistillate, cylindrical, 2-3 cm long, 7-10 mm wide, densely flowered; peduncles slightly exserted from sheaths) or enclosed.
