Leaves longer than culms; leaf-blade brownish yellow, flat, leathery, 6-9 mm wide, acuminate at apex, scabrous on upper margins. Involucral bracts shortly leaf-like, shorter than inflorescence, sheathed; sheaths 1-1. 5 cm long, obliquely truncate at orifice. Inflorescence paniculate, with 2 or 3 spikes; terminal spike staminate, shortly cylindrical, 1. 5-2 cm long, ca. 5 mm wide, with a long peduncle at base; lateral spikes pistillate, cylindrical, 1-2 cm long, 6-7 mm wide, slightly densely flowered, pedunculate; peduncles slightly exserted from sheaths, or enclosed. Staminate scales oblong, brownish yellow, 5-5. 5 mm long, acute at apex» brown l-veined costa on dorsal surface. Pistillate scales ovate» pale brown, 5-5. 5 mm long (including awn), acuminate at apex, green 3-veined costa excurrent a short scabrous awn.
