Leaves basal, shorter than or equaling stem, blades 2-3 mm wide, stiff, scabrous. Basal sheaths deep brown, fibrillose. Involucral bracts sheathed, lower blades linear, upper blades setaceous. Spikes androgynous, 2-4(-8), cylindrical, 7-15 mm long, 1-spike at each nodes. Staminate scales brown, ca. 2.5 mm long, apex acute. Pistillate scales brown, 2 mm long, apex acute. Perigynia longer than pistillate scales, broadly ovoid, ca. 3 mm long, strongly 7-veined, pubescent; beak short, mouth 2-toothed. Achenes broadly ovoid, ca. 1.5 mm long. Stigmas 2. [details]
