Description Herbs perennial. Rhizome short, ligneous, thick. Culms central, 50-65 cm tall, trigonous, with dark brown sheaths at base. Leaves longer than culms; leaf-blade yellowish green, flat, leathery, 8-10 mm wide, acuminate at apex, scabrous on margins. Involucral bracts leaf-like, longer than inflorescence, sheathed; sheaths 1. 5- 2.5 cm long, obliquely truncate at orifice. Inflorescence paniculate, with 4 spikes;
terminal spike staminate, linear-cylindrical, 5. 5-7 cm long, 2. 5-3. 5 mm wide, with a long peduncle at base; lateral spikes androgynous, cylindrical, 6-7. 5 cm long, ca. 10 mm wide, densely flowered, bearing a 1-1. 5 cm long staminate part at apex, pedunculate; peduncles slightly exserted from sheaths. Staminate scales oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate, pale yellow, ca. 7 mm long, obtuse at apex, green l-veined
costa on dorsal surface. Pistillate scales elliptic-lanceolate or lanceolate, pale yellow, 5. 5-6 mm long (including awn), acuminate at apex, green 3-veined costa excurrent into a ca. 2 mm long scabrous awn. Perigynia ovoid or broadly ovoid (excluding beak), 7. 5-8 mm long, longer than pistillate scales (including beak), obliquely patent, obtusely trigonous» subleathery, yellowish green, distinctly veined, sparsely pubescent, gradually contracted into a ca. 2 mm long beak; orifice 2-lobed with short teeth. Stigmas 3; style thicken at base. Achenes tightly enveloped, rhombic-ovoid, trigonous, ca. 4 mm long (including beak), castaneous, with 3 angles constricted at middle, sides concave above and below, shortly curved, stipitate at base, abruptly contracted into a ca. 1 mm long beak at apex, beak slightly curved, annulate at orifice.
