Description Perennials. loosely caespitose, with long creeping rhizomes. Stems 10-25 cm tall, obtusely trigonous. Leaves shorter than stem, blades 2-3 mm wide, rough margined. Basal sheaths dark brown, split into fibers. Involucral bracts scalelike, lowest involucral bract equaling or longer than spike, with short sheath. Inflorescences spikes 2-4; terminal spike male, linear-cylindric, 1-1.5 cm long, with short peduncle, close to next lateral spike; lateral spikes female, shortly cylindric, 0.7-1.2 cm long, sessile. Staminate scales pale green, narrowly obovate, apex obtuse or acute. Pistillate scales brownish green, broadly ovate, apex acute, with short awn. Perigynia longer than pistillate scale, ovate, 2.5-2.8 mm long, 0.9-1.1 mm wide, sparsely pubescent, with short beak; mouth shortly notched.
