Description Herbs perennial. Rhizome short, ligneous. Culms lateral, 3-15 cm tall, compressed trigonous, smooth, covered with pale brown bladeless sheaths at base. Leaves longer than culms; leaf-blade green, flat, leathery, 6-16. 5 mm wide, scabrous on margins, acuminate at apex. Involucral bracts shortly leaf-like, shorter than inflorescences sheathed; sheaths 4-10 mm long, obliquely truncate at orifice. Inflorescence paniculate, with 3 or 4 spikes; terminal spike staminate, linear-clavate, 5- 9 mm long» ca. 2 mm wide, with a short peduncle at base; lateral spikes pistillate, shortly cylindrical, 0. 8-1 cm long, ca. 7 mm wide, loosely 5-7-flowered; peduncles enclosed in sheaths. Staminate scales ovate, pale yellow, 4. 5-5 mm long, obtuse at apex, green 3-veined costa on dorsal surface.
