Description Rhizoma breve. Culmi caespitosi, 20~55 cm alti, compresso-triquetri, graciles, laeves, basi fusce vaginati. Folia culmo longiora vel breviora, 2.5~4 mm lata, margine scabra. Bracteae breviter foliiformes, supra setaceae, spiculis breviores, vaginantae. Spiculae 4~5; ea terminalis staminata, linearis, 3~6 cm longa, pedunculo 1~2.5 cm longo; eae laterales pistillatae, lineari-cylindricae, 1~3.5 cm longae, erectae, sparse floribus, pedunculis 0.6~5 cm longis, infime inclusis in bractearum vaginis. Squamae staminatae anguste oblanceolatae, apice obtusae, flavo-pallidae, 7.5~8 mm longae. Squamae pistillatae ovato-oblongae, flavo-pallidae, apice acutae vel obtusae, 2.5~3 mm longae, dorso 1-nervis. Utriculi squamis longiores, oblongo-ellipsoidei, obtuse trigoni, 3~4 mm longi, multinerve, glabri, basi attenuati, apice in rostrum circ. 1 mm longum ore bidentatum contracti. Translation Rhizome short. Culms tufted, 20–55 cm tall, compressed-triquetrous, slender, smooth, sheathed at base in dark brown. Leaves longer or shorter than the culm, 2.5–4 mm wide, with scabrous margins. Bracts shortly leaf-like, above setaceous, shorter than the spikelets, sheathing. Spikelets 4–5; the terminal one staminate, linear, 3–6 cm long, with a peduncle 1–2.5 cm long; the lateral ones pistillate, linear-cylindrical, 1–3.5 cm long, erect, sparsely flowered, peduncles 0.6–5 cm long, enclosed at base within bract sheaths. Staminate scales narrowly oblanceolate, blunt at the tip, pale yellow, 7.5–8 mm long. Pistillate scales ovate-oblong, pale yellow, with acute or blunt tips, 2.5–3 mm long, 1-nerved on the back. Utricles longer than the scales, oblong-ellipsoid, obtusely trigonous, 3–4 mm long, many-nerved, glabrous, base attenuate, apex with a beak about 1 mm long, mouth bidentate and contracted.
