Leaves longer than culms; leaf-blade brownish yellow, flat, leathery, 11-18 mm wide, acuminate at apex, scabrous on margins. Involucral bracts shortly leaf-like, shorter than inflorescence, sheathed; sheaths 1-2 cm long, obliquely truncate at orifice. Inflorescence paniculate, with 4 or 5 spikes; terminal spike staminate, clavate-cylindrical, 2-3 cm long, 4-5 mm wide, with a long peduncle at base; lateral spikes pistillate, cylindrical, 4-5. 5 cm long, 12-15 mm wide, densely flowered, bearing a few staminate flowers at apex, pedunculate; peduncles exserted from sheaths, or enclosed. Staminate scales lanceolate, pale brown, ca. 7.5 mm long, acuminate at apex» brown 1-veined costa on dorsal surface. Pistillate scales lanceolate-ovate, pale yellow, 5-5. 5 mm long, acuminate at apex, green 3-veined costa on dorsal surface. Perigynia globose-ovoid or subglobose (excluding beak), 6-7
