Description Herbs perennial. Rhizome short, ligneous, thick. Culms central, 40-80(-150) cm tall, trigonous, with dark brown sheaths at base. Leaves longer than culms; leaf-blade brownish green, flat, leathery, 4.5-9.5 mm wide, acuminate at apex,» margins scabrous, revolute. Involucral bracts leaf-like or shortly leaf-like, shorter than inflorescence, sheathed; sheaths 2.5-5 cm long, obliquely truncate at orifice. Inflorescence paniculate, with 3 or 4 spikes; terminal spike staminate, linear-cylindrical, 5-9 cm long, 4. 5-5. 5 mm wide, with a long peduncle at base; lateral spikes androgynous, cylindrical, 3-9 cm long, 9-10 mm wide, densely flowered, bearing a 4-5 cm long staminate part at apex, pedunculate; peduncles exserted from sheaths. Perigynia ellipsoid or ovoid (excluding beak), 9-9.5 mm long, longer than pistillate scales (including beak), obliquely patent, obtusely trigonous, subleathery, brownish
olivaceous, distinctly veined, sparsely pubescent on upper margins, gradually contracted into a ca. 3 mm long beak; orifice 2-lobed with long teeth. Stigmas 3; style slightly thicken at base. Achenes tightly enveloped, rhombic-ovoid, trigonous, 5-5. 5 mm long (including beak), castaneous, with 3 angles constricted at middle, sides
