Description With 4 spikelets, oblong or cylindrical and erect; the terminal male spikelet is sessile; the 3 or 4 upper female spikelets are sessile and close together; the lower ones are distant, with leafy bracts, clearly pedunculate and projecting; stigmas 3; perigynia trigonous-elliptic, slightly inflated, with a long-pointed beak, bidentate, somewhat rough on the upper margins, straw-colored, with equally prominent nerves on both sides; scale broadly ovate, mucronate or with a bristly-pointed tip, longer than the perigynia. [details]
