Leaves shorter or longer than culms; leaf-blade green, flat, revolute, leathery, 1. 5-4 mm wide, acuminate at apex, scabrous on margins. Involucral bracts shortly leaf-like, shorter than inflorescence, sheathed; sheaths 1-2 cm long, obliquely truncate at orifice, Inflorescence paniculate, with 2 or 3 spikes; terminal spike staminate, clavate or linear-clavate, 1-3 cm long, 2-4. 5 mm wide, with a long peduncle at base; lateral spikes pistillate, shortly cylindrical, 1-2 cm long, 5-6 mm wide, 2-10-flowered; peduncles slightly exserted from sheaths. Staminate scales oblanceolate to elliptic, pale yellow, 5.
