Description Perennial. caespitose. Stems 20-50 cm tall, smooth, soft. Leaves shorter than stem, 2-3 mm wide. Basal sheaths pale brown. Inflorescence solitary at terminal, androgynous, elliptic-ovate, 6-12 mm long, staminate flower part very short, above with 3-5-flowered; pistillate flower part longer than staminate flower part, below with 7-15-flowered. Staminate scales dark brown, apex acute. Pistillate scales caducous, pale brown, elliptic-lanceolate, 2.5-3 mm long, apex obtuse to acute. Perigynia oblong ovoid, reflexed at maturity, 3.5-4 mm long, ca. 1.5 mm wide, with many distinct slender veins, glabrous, apex gradually attenuate into a beak, mouth notched or truncate.
