Translation With erect spikes 4-7; the highest being male or androgynous at the base, and a male apex; the remaining are female: upper ones are contiguous oblong sessile; the lower ones are cylindrical, pedunculated, bracteated, often speciate or compound; the lowest occasionally somewhat remote, with 2 stigmas, perigynia oblong-ovate with rostellate mouths, entire edges, nervously stalked, pale and deciduous with oblongo-obtuse scales, with pale nerves longer and broader.
