Friedrich G. Dietrich referred in the protologue that his Carex bipartita may be the same unnamed plant described by Georg F. Hoffman in Phytographische Blätter (1803:57). Both, Dietrich's and Hoffman's descriptions seem ambigouous though it vaguely recalls Carex subg.Vignea species.
The original herbarium of F.G.Dietrich is apparently unlocated: Stafleu & Cowan (Taxonomic Literature, Ed. 2, 1976-1988) simply mentioned that it was sold. [details]
