Description Hierba perenne, densamente cespitosa. Tallos (4)5,5-32(50) cm 0,5- 1,1(1,5) mm, cilíndricos, finamente estriados, verdes, ± brillantes. Vaina superior prolongada en un mucrón de 1,6-5,1(7) mm, con la embocadura membranosa, oblicuamente truncada, en forma de bisel de (0,6)0,7-3(3,7) mm de altura, membranácea; vainas basales escamosas, empizarradas, de color pardo, brillantes o mates. Espiguilla 2,3-6,5(10) mm, ovoide, compuesta por 3-12(20) flores; bracteas glumiformes de 2,5-6,2 mm, ovadas, prolongadas en un mucrón ligeramente calloso-engrosado hacia el ápice, pardo-rojizas, con 1-5 nervios, de longitud menor, igual o mayor que la de la espiguilla, a la que generalmente abrazan. Glumas similares a las bracteas, pero menores y sin mucrón. Aquenios 1,5-2 mm, de contorno obovado u oval, trígonos, lisos, parduscos, ± brillantes; cerdas periánticas (4)5(6), escábridas, por lo común de menor longitud que las glumas, lisas, ± parduscas. 2n = 104*. Translation Perennial herb, densely tufted. Stems (4)5.5-32(50) cm 0.5- 1.1(1.5) mm, cylindrical, finely striated, green, ± shiny. Upper sheath extended into a mucron 1.6-5.1(7) mm, with the membranous mouth, obliquely truncated, bevel-shaped (0.6)0.7-3(3.7) mm high, membranous; basal sheaths scaly, slaty, brown, shiny or matt. Spikelet 2.3-6.5(10) mm, ovoid, composed of 3-12(20) flowers; Glumiform bracts 2.5-6.2 mm, ovate, prolonged into a mucron that is slightly calloused-thickened towards the apex, reddish-brown, with 1-5 nerves, shorter, equal to or longer than the spikelet, which they generally embrace.
