Description Robust, rhizomatous herbs with rhizomes 3–3.3 mm in diameter. Cataphylls absent. Culms several, erect, arising from leaf axils, up to 5.5 cm long, slender (0.8–1 mm diameter), glabrous, greenish-yellow to yellowish. Leaves weakly 3-ranked, up to 25 cm long; leaf-blade linear, 10–20 cm × 3–8 mm, apex very gradually narrowed, base tapered into sheath, soft with a metallic blue sheen, 3-nerved (secondary nerves indistinct), flat in cross-section, distinctly septate-nodulose when dry, margins coarsely serrulate; pseudopetiole absent. Involucral bracts several, glumaceous, ovate to lanceolate, 1–2 × 1 mm, basal bract shorter, obtuse, subcoriaceous, light brown, glabrous, nerves indistinct. Inflorescence terminal, elliptic to lanceolate, spike solitary, 6–8 × 2–2.5 mm, greenish-yellow to yellowish-light brown; spicoid bracts lanceolate, 5–5.5 × 1–1.5 mm, subcoriaceous, matching spike color, nerves indistinct. Floral bracts 6, free; lowest 2 linear to linear-lanceolate, 0.8–1 mm, flat, glabrous. Staminate flowers and anthers not observed. Stigma branches 2; style up to 5 mm long.
