Locality Notes: The collection number 223 is associated with an observation made near Erevan, not Nachitschewan. (LE 01181929 https://herbariumle.ru/?t=occ&id=132483). In the absence of a precise date, I can only assume that there was a mistake in the retranscription of the collection number, as the spikes are evidently more mature on this specimen than the specimen LE 01181929 collected near Erevan in April 1847. The level of maturity is identical to that of the lectotype LE01181931 collected at the end of May. The likely reason for this mistake is that the specimen collected in Erevan and the lectotype are mounted on the same plate at LE. This collection at P is probably a fragment taken from this specimen at LE, the specimen on the left ( the lectotype) given the maturity. This makes this specimen at P an isolectotype. A second-step lectotypification for Carex ledebourii is needed.
Written "Bei Angelarud (Prov. Karabagh) unweit Nachitschewan, 24 Mai 1847" in the protologue. Despite the mention Pr. or "Unweit' (meaning "near" in German) Angelarud is about 60 km E of the city of Nakhchivan. About the location of Angelarud: Translation from German to English of p. X of the protologue (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/11820199#page/23/mode/1up): "I saw some of these plants again in the mountains east and north of Nakhchivan, particularly in the Illanglidagh region and in the lower Alyndja Valley, whose soil also contains salt. Here, as well as in the mountain valleys of Karabagh, where I visited the towns of Sisian, Tassakend, and Angelarud, and from where I returned to Nakhchivan via Bechenagh, and also in the northern Jagri Valley, there was a quite respectable yield [...]". Bechenagh corresponds to Bichanak [Biç?n?k], Sisian corresponds to Sisian [??????], and Angelarud (written as Angelaghud on the label), corresponds to the nearby town of Angeghakot [?????????]. The armenian pronunciation is similar to Angelaghud.
