Diagnosis Squamae spicae masculae oblongae arista saepius squama longiore apice instructae. Rostrum fructus longitudine fructus, qui nervis quinque est donatus. W.[Staminate scales oblong, with awns at the apex often longer than the body of the scale. Utricles 5-nerved, with a beak as long as the body. Diagnosis by Willdenow.] [details]
Nomenclature note Hat mit vorigem in Pensylvanien gleichen Standort, und die hier angegebenen Merkmahle sinde ich auch bey dem vorigen, wo nur die weiblichen Achren kürzer sind. Der an den Ecken befonders gekerbte Saame zeichnet sich von allen Arten, die ich bisher beobachtet habe, vorzuglich aus, er kommt mit vorigem ganz überein, und nach andern Arten entscheiden auch hier die etwas längern Aehren nichts.
[It shares the same habitat as the previous one [Carex tentaculata Muhl] in Pennsylvania, and the characteristics described here are also found in [Carex tentaculata], except that the female spikelets are shorter.
