Translation Perennial herb; rhizome with ± long internodes. Culms up to 80 cm tall, generally solitary, erect, trigonous. Leaves (18)29–44(55) × (0.4)0.5–7.5(10) cm, generally shorter than the culm, mostly basal, leaving part of the culm exposed, flat or channelled, antrorsely scabrid on the margins and midrib, eligulate; sheaths light brown, with membranous, hyaline margins. Inflorescence terminal, in a compound anthela, overall ± hemispherical, with primary rays 0.3–13 cm long, the secondary rays terminating in numerous spikelets (up to 90), arranged in fascicles; bracts 4–8, the lowest (12)17–33(44) × 0.3–0.7(1) cm, greatly exceeding the inflorescence; spikelets (5.3)7–15(41.8) × 2–4.5 mm, narrowly lanceolate, compressed, with 7–11(32–43) flowers; rachilla straight, wingless.
