Description Thishybrid is intermediate between the parents in habit, stem length, leaf width, presence and length of bracts, and inflorescence characters. It is most readily distinguished by its long inflorescence, the small, neat spikes of which are distant below, then contiguous and finally crowded above, and usually by the presence of a single, long lowest bract. Male florets usually occur at the base of the spike, as in C. remota. C. paniculata forma simplex is superficially similar but has hard, fertile utricles and lacks the long bract. Best separated from C. ×pseudoaxillaris by its longer inflorescence with more frequent, more spaced-out, narrower, somewhat longer spikes. [details]
